More and more people prefer notebooks rather than regular computers. That's because laptops take up less space, while offering the same performance as a normal desktop computer. Additionally, notebook computers are highly portable, allowing you to use them anytime, anyplace. The portability is offered by a high capacity Lithium Ion battery. The problem with these batteries is that they tend to wear out after many charge-discharge cycles. That's why it's important to monitor the status of your laptop's battery, so you can see if the capacity has dropped and if the battery needs replacing.

For this, you could use Smarter Battery. This Windows program offers complete information regarding your laptop's battery, like the designed capacity, fully charged capacity, current voltage and other similar information. All this information is displayed and refreshed in real time. When running the application, besides showing the main interface, Smarter Battery will also display the charge level of your battery, as a graphical icon. The program also places an icon in the system tray, from where you can quickly and easily access it.

The main interface of Smarter Battery displays the charge level, wear level and also the current and designed capacity. All this information can help you determine whether your laptop's battery needs replacing or it can be still used without any problems. The program also displays the capacity evolution as a chart, which allows you to view the capacity decrease level, when the laptop runs on the battery and not on the AC power supply. From the Settings area of the application, you can configure Smarter Battery to run together with Windows and you can also configure the application to perform a battery calibration, which can improve the battery life. Unfortunately, this feature is not available in the demo version.
